Working Overseas in the Dive Industry

Want to work overseas in the dive industry? What is it really like to work at a dive resort? What skills do you need to land the job? Should you offer your services for free to get your foot in the door? Today, I talk with the dive shop manager for Lembeh Resort/Critters@Lembeh Lauren Siba, who has been working at dive resorts for ten years. I tap into her experience working in the Dive Industry.

Crazy Critters of Lembeh with Marine Biologist Dimpy

If you want to add a full dose of ‘Wow!’ back into your diving trips then you have to do muck Diving at Lembeh Resort in Indonesia. I just got back from a trip to the resort and I can say it is everything you have heard. There is an astonishing cast of weird and wonderful critters to be found – with new ones being added regularly. The picture to the left is of an extremely rare Festucalex Rufus Pygmy Pipefish my wife Giny took off of Bangka Island at Demak.

The long flight to get there is more than compensated by the wickedly awesome diving experience, resort and staff. I caught up with resident marine biologist Dimpy and get her thoughts on the muck diving and the critters, today on Planet Earth Diver.

Muck Diving Lembeh Resort Indonesia

Muck diving is synonymous with Lembeh Resort in Indonesia. The silty bottom at first looks rather barren – but looks are very deceiving. The silt and the coral rubble is home to an amazing range of sea life. This week on Planet Earth Diver I talk with manager Danny Charlton about what you can see and experience at the Resort. I also invite you to join me at Lembeh resort February 14th to 21st 2015 with Adventures in Scuba. For more information on going to Lembeh resort send me an email info@planetearthdiver.com .
