Diving California's Kelp Forests

The Giant Kelp Forests off of California are a truly magical place to dive. It is very much like taking a stroll through a forest with light beams streaming down through the leaves. The sea life there is abundant and engaging. There’s everything from schools of fish, the Giant Black Sea Bass which is making a comeback to hyper active dive bombing Sea Lions. Suunto EON Steel Dive Computer

Suunto has a new dive computer on the market the EON Steel. It’s their latest which utilizes the bigger brighter color screen – a real plus for those of us who have older eyes that need that sort of thing. There’s lots going on under the hood as well; multiple gases, multiple tanks for tech diving and the display is fully customizable. I talk with Jukka Saarikorpi who heads up new product development at Suunto about the EON Steel, the Zoop, the RGBM algorithm and what goes into making a dive computer.

360 Abyss Underwater Housing for the GoPro

There’s a new Gopro Housing that’s come to town and it has captured the imagination of underwater video producers around the world: The 360 Abyss. This new housing allows you to record in 360 degrees, all around video. I talk with the CEO of 360 Heros Michael Kintner about the latest version of the 360 Abyss. Free Diving and Humpback Whales with East Coast Divers
